What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

We are a Bible teaching church, believing the Bible to be God’s inerrant, infallible, and authoritative Word. The Bible is true, forever relevant and sufficient to teach us everything we need to know for living godly. Being taught the Word of God on a regular basis is essential to spiritual growth.

The Bible reveals that there is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy; is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible; and therefore, is worthy of worship.

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creation as a reflection of God’s glory.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. As sinners, they fell out of relationship with God and brought a curse upon all creation. God promised them that one would be born who would pay for their sin and defeat its curse. They trusted in that promise and, thereby, became the first believers in Jesus Christ as Savior.

God so loves mankind that He personally became a member of the human race in fulfillment of God's promise to Adam and Eve. Jesus Christ lived and died to redeem us from our sin. God raised him from the grave, having satisfied God's judgment against our sin. When we trust in Jesus as our Savior, He forgives us of our sin and gives us credit for His righteousness which restores our relationship with God. Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone.

Jesus taught his disciples to baptize believers. Baptism by immersion is a vivid demonstration that a person is wholly committed to Christianity. Going under the baptismal water symbolizes that one's old life of sin has died with Christ and coming up from the water signifies that the believer is now living a new life based on God's resurrection power.

The Church

Adam and Eve were the first believers on the earth and were the beginning of God's redeemed people, the Church.  The Church has taken many different shapes throughout the centuries and is now organized as local congregations of believers, empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill Jesus’ mission on the earth through the ministry of the gospel.

Jesus Christ will return one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth. When Jesus returns all believers will be resurrected and glorified to enjoy a renewed creation forever.
